What size are the handles of your canes?

GC-Artis walking canes are One Size - handle size cannot be adjusted. 

But don’t worry: our range includes models tailored to different hand sizes.

• Larger-handle models suit bigger hands: M, L, XL.

• Smaller-handle models suit compact hands: S, M, L.

• Many canes feature a universal handle that’s comfortable for all hand sizes.

You’ll find the handle size info in each product description. To determine your palm size, use the standard glove size chart.

I have a serious health problem - can I use GC-Artis Walking canes?

GC-Artis Walking Canes are not registered as a medical Device & not a subject to mandatory certification in EU & FDA registration in USA

Our canes are fully functional & more convenient than a most of usual canes, well tested & high quality, so

If you have serious musculoskeletal disease or are prone to fall or have suffered surgery after a fracture / insertion of an artificial limb or artificial bone / joint, then we recommend to use this after consultation with your therapist ONLY!

And we do not recommend using our canes by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge.

If you decide to use a cane, we strongly recommend:

• replace the standard rubber tip with a certified medical one with better shock absorption (ask us and we'll help with this)

• adhere to the support weight limit specified in the item description

• maintaining correct hand positioning when using a cane

I’m XXX LBS / kg. Does this cane support my weight?

Most of our canes can support a person weighing up to 250 lb / 112 kg, while some series can support up to 360 lb / 160 kg.

This parameter is specified for a standard cane size of 36 inches / 92 cm and assumes that the direct load on the cane is approximately 30-50% of the person's weight, but not 100%.

Weight Restrictions!

Walking canes assist with balance, not full-weight support. Unlike crutches, they provide an extra point of contact for stability and joint relief but are not designed to bear full body weight. The weight limit specified in the item description

IT IS CRITICAL to hold the cane correctly to ensure stability and reliability while walking

The correct grip involves placing your palm firmly on the handle, with the cane held between your index and middle fingers. Ensure that the vector/direction of the support force aligns precisely with the shaft

DO NOT LEAN ON THE BACK PART OF THE HANDLE!

How to determine the optimal length of my cane?  What cane size do I need?

 

The optimal length of the cane is a very individual parameter. It depends not only on your height & your regular shoes soles thickness but also on the length of your arms, the posture, the manner of walking so I recommend to make a personal test. 

The optimal way is to order the standard 36'' length walking cane and to shorten a wooden shaft on a place if needed. It is easy to do using any saw. You'll receive the rubber tip in the set which hides any traces of cutting. It is a good idea to use a paint tape to protect the wood from splitting while cutting off the shaft (wind the shaft above the cut-off point).

But If you want me to cut your cane before sending, please try to determine the optimal length very accurately & do not remind to consider the thickness of your shoes sole! It is easy to make walking cane shorter but very hard to make it longer again.

How are the measurements made?

We measure cane from the top point of palm support to the bottom point.

Any decorative details on the top above the point of support such as the head of an animal, ears or other are not taken into account.

Can you make this cane shorter?

No problem, We can cut it down before shipping for your desire. It is free

Can you make this cane longer?

No problem, we can make most of our canes up to 38'' long free (excluding classic cane & Bronze & wood cane series)

Just ask me if this free option is available for the cane model you're interested in & if it's okay, then please put the order on the standard size but add a note in to the order details with length your prefer or remind me in message at once after the order placed

For increasing the length of the classic and bronze series canes, as well as lengthening all canes by more than 38 inches (from 36 to 46) 

I can make this cane longer using an additional shaft section between the handle and the shaft. 

Please put the order on the cane (choose the length) and on the extension (choose the design you like) at once. Make your choice so that the sum of the lengths of your cane and extension is what you need.

For example, to get a 39-inch cane, order a 32 inch cane + 7 inch extension (32 + 7 = 39).

If you're unsure of the optimal size, it's always wise to buy a cane a little longer than necessary. You can easily shorten it on site using any saw, but it's impossible to make it longer.

Does the rubber tip/strap come in a set with the GC-Artis cane?

Yes, of course! Each GC-Artis Walking stick cane comes with high-quality branded accessories. 

You get a complete walking cane & don't need to worry about buying important parts like a rubber tip and hand strap.

Are GC-Artis cane handles interchangeable?

You may order one shaft and some handles to change time to time

You will save some money + get the shipping discount

But please note: only handles from the same collection are interchangeable! It's important that the handle height be the same. As you can see, we have some different series now, each with a different size, and the shaft may vary. Typically, most handles within the same collection are interchangeable. Please ask which design you're interested in, and I'll give you more precise information about interchangeability.

What type and size of rubber tips?

All our Wooden canes come with Branded standard 3/4'' size rubber tips. Spare tip is not included. However, you can easily find and purchase a replacement tip of the same size at a local medical supply store or online retailer.

This size is common with various types and specialized alternatives available at market, including extra grip, winter, Tripod or Quad base & others designed to meet specific needs. 

Recommendation: For easy tip replacement, use soap, wax, or silicone as a lubricant

All our Bronze & Wood canes (Canes with bronze decoration) are completed by Unique elegant metal tips with with a removable anti-slip rubber pad on. A spare pad is included.

To replace use PH Screwdriver: Unscrew → Swap pad → Tighten screw

For extra grip & comfort, use a classic ¾’’ rubber tip over the brass tip. ¾’’ rubber tip Not included - easy to buy separately at a medical supply store / online store

A lot of different rubber tips suitable size available on a market in suitable ¾’’ size and may be putted on GC-Artis cane instead our branded rubber tip or putted on the elegant brass tip with a small pad 

Do you sell the black rubber end caps & Wrist straps separately?

Unfortunately we do not sell consumables like rubber tips/caps and wrist straps separately because shipping costs from Ukraine to USA and other countries will costs unreasonably much (some times much that such small piece costs)

But please do not worry

We use standard 3/4'' size rubber tips so it is easy to find at a local medical store or online. You may choose more technological tips or 3-4 pods in this size as well. This is a huge offer on the market.

Other options. If you going to order any other cane from me in a future - please contact me and I'll put additional rubber tip and a wrist strap free in to the same box, No additional payment for delivery either - a couple of small items do not affect the weight of the parcel and the cost of delivery

What type of wood do you use?

We use highest quality hard wood after proper processing and preparation (120 days drying)

Handle: European OAK or ASH wood 

Shaft: Solis ASH Wood - the best type for such long pieces - beautiful texture, durable and not prone to spontaneous bending like the shaft of cheap canes

What type of finish do you use?

Each GC-Artis Cane has some layers of professional two components finish with a pleasant silky shine 30% gloss 

We use a clear non-toxic acrylic base lacquer from the European manufacturer SIRCA S.p.A., Italy. This is a safe product, does not cause allergies or skin irritation, and does not emit toxic fumes after full polymerization. It also meets the requirements of EN71/3:2019

Do you hand carve the wooden canes?

We use a lot of handwork when making our canes. But we combine handwork and modern technologies.

Some canes are made 100% completely by hand as a one of a kind individual custom orders (price from 500 USD, term 2-3 months).

Ergonomic canes series where exact repetition of the ideal shape of the handle is very important and inexpensive canes like Swallow or receive only 10-20% of handwork.

We use a duplicator or CNC machine for rough carving blanks and final fine carving - using traditional techniques such as hand carving. Please watch the video of how it is made.
